The last several years have changed the way we interact and work, fundamentally altering the way we live. More than ever before, people and our communities became a source of comfort and strength. At AssetMark, our people are our source of strength in making a difference in the lives of our advisors and their clients. They are the heart of our business. Just as our team members are dedicated to serving our advisors by putting them first, we are here to put our people first. In the last year, we did more to ensure our teams have the support they need. We enhanced our wellness initiatives to further promote overall well-being and introduced Leadership Programs to continue to develop our talented team to positively impact the organization and our communities. We encourage team members to give back through paid volunteer days, Summer of Service, and matching donation programs. Additionally, we support our advisors, industry, and communities in need through advisor-nominated charitable programs and corporate partnerships. Each year, AssetMark aims to donate about 1% of our reported profits to support causes that make a difference and communities in need. In 2021, we donated over $530,000 to organizations including disaster and pandemic relief and social justice organizations.

We strive to foster a culture of respect, committed to improving representation and diversity and inclusion at AssetMark, and also across our industry. We believe that a diverse team at all levels is foundational to our execution, innovation, and continued success. As of December 31, 2021, our diversity by gender was 57% male and 43% female. Our diversity by race/ethnicity was 67% white and 33% underrepresented minorities (Asian, Hispanic, Black, and Other). While these are relatively in-line with our industry, we are still early on our journey. To further our efforts, we established three Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) focused on empowering women, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for all people of color and allies, and creating a safe community for LGBTQIA+.

Doing More

In the coming year and years ahead, we remain committed to making a difference in the lives of our advisors, their clients, and our team members. We continue to strengthen our culture and community and advance our organization through diversity and inclusion. We believe that our different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives reinforce our community and enable us to better serve our clients. To hold ourselves accountable, we are increasing transparency and are pleased to share our first ESG Report that outlines our current initiatives, practices and objectives in the areas that are fundamental to our business. We view ESG as critical to positively impacting our advisors, investors, and team members, which in turn is crucial for our long-term success. While we made significant progress in the past year, together, we must and will continue to do more.
